Hey Everybody,
Welcome to my blog. I didn’t think I would be sitting here writing this. Blogging was always my wife’s interest, not mine. I work better with pictures than I do words. But alas, here we are.
I’ve decided to create this blog as a soft-routine. So it won’t be updated “every Monday at 6:37 am” or anything like that. But it WILL be updated when my thoughts are developed enough to share coherently with you. The reason I’m making this public at all is part of my efforts to be more generous with my ideas. I hear of and see artists struggling with problems I have thought through myself. Only seems right to try to put the answers I’ve found out there.
So what should we all expect from this blog?
- Definitely which drawing practices are a waste of time.
- Some of the lies about art and creativity commonly perpetuated.
- Featuring some of the best artists and what about their work is particularly incredible.
- Techniques and processes that I’ve found the most success with and how you can adopt them.
- Critical reviews of popular artists, art movements, and ancient artists.
If any of these topics interest you, then I hope to connect with you in particular through this blog.
What do I hope comes from this?
If I can look back after a year of slowly adding entries and see that we have created a place for often isolated artists to participate in the ongoing conversation, or saved someone hours of frustration with a drawing, or even just counteracted the annoying mediocrity that spews from lazy art teachers regurgitating what ChatGPT gives them, then I will be satisfied with our work here.
That, and blogs help with SEO.
So leave a comment! Let us know your thoughts and reactions. Did you find an answer to one of your problems, or was I WAY off-base? Either way, I’d love to hear about it. And I promise to find cool art to show too.
-Javen
